Journey time: how an airport booking is timed

Journey time is the travel time to an airport hotel agreed with you in the thread before a booking is fixed, in place of the city's arrival window.

Journey time is the term used for how long it will take a therapist to reach an airport hotel for a particular booking. It is the airport's equivalent of the city's arrival window, but it is not a fixed figure. It is agreed, booking by booking, in the thread.

Why it is agreed rather than promised

The distance between central Amsterdam and the airport hotels is modest, but the route is less predictable than any journey inside the ring. Motorway traffic in the early evening, road works at night, a shuttle loop that runs only every twenty minutes in the business parks: each can add time. Agreeing the journey in advance keeps that uncertainty out of the guest's evening.

How it works

The guest asks for a day, an hour and a therapist. The house looks at the hour, the day and the conditions, and proposes a time with the journey stated. The guest agrees or suggests another time. Only then is anything fixed, and only then is the deposit asked for.

When to ask

The earlier the better. A request made the day before usually produces the exact hour asked for. A request made on the evening itself has fewer options and less room to absorb a slow road.

If the journey changes

On a night of heavy rain or an accident on the motorway, an agreed time can slip by a quarter of an hour. The house says so in the thread as soon as it is clear. If conditions make the journey impossible, that is force majeure, and the deposit becomes credit. The guide to booking from your airport room shows where this step sits in the thread.
