The day room, and a session between flights
A day room is an airport hotel room let for a block of hours during the day. A session fits inside one when the hours and the journey time are agreed ahead.
Several hotels near the airport let rooms for part of a day, typically four to six hours between late morning and early evening. They are aimed at passengers with a long connection who want a shower, a sleep and somewhere to leave a bag. They are full hotel rooms, with a bed and a bathroom, and a session can take place in one.
The constraint is the clock
A day room has a hard end time. Everything is worked out backwards from that moment:
- half an hour at the end for a shower, dressing and packing;
- the length of the session;
- the journey time agreed with the house before anything is fixed.
A room let from ten until four can hold a two hour session starting at half past one, if the booking is made the day before. The same request made after checking in often cannot fit, because the journey time eats into a window with no slack.
Landside only
The room must be landside, in a hotel a visitor can walk into from the street or the shuttle. Rest facilities behind security cannot be reached.
Delays
If the inbound flight lands late, the room starts late but ends at the same time. Tell the house in the thread as soon as you know. A delayed flight is a change on the guest's side and follows the notice scale; see cancellation and refunds.
Preparing it
Day rooms are usually cool when handed over, cleaned and set for sleep. Turn the heating up as soon as you arrive. Every airport booking carries a deposit of half, and a day room is no exception.
