Portuguese, Spanish and English cover a good share of the people who check into an airport hotel at ten at night with a creased boarding pass still in a pocket. Naya is twenty-four and lives in Amsterdam Centrum, and the drive out to the airport is agreed with her before the booking is fixed. She notices the details of a transit room, the luggage rack, the hum of the minibar, the blind that never quite closes, and fixes what she can. Her pace is slow and her conversation optional. Guests who arrive too tired to decide anything tend to leave the length to her suggestion, which is usually ninety minutes.

Naya decides which bookings she takes and may decline any of them; she sets the limits for what a session includes, says what they are, and may end a visit at any point, as the terms set out.
