Twenty-three and based in the Centrum, Betsy speaks Czech and English and keeps her voice low in rooms with thin connecting doors. Transit rooms are small, and she arrives with little: warm oil, a towel of her own and no expectation that the space will be generous. Guests on a layover often book her for the hour between check-in and the sleep they badly need. She is quick to tell whether someone wants quiet or company. Schiphol is by arrangement with her, never assumed, and the journey is timed before the hour is set.
